Chicago-based multidisciplinary artist Christine Forni enjoyed a storied career making wearable sculptural art as a metalsmith before she segued to successfully focusing on sculptural work. Her sculptures explore the tension between the natural and industrial worlds, seamlessly blending the two opposing forces into three-dimensional objects. With a nod to Post-Minimalism, Christine's sculptures, like 'Torso', evoke the human body without being overly didactic. 'Torso', like its title suggests, is part pre-historic ribcage and part fossilized branches of an ancient gilded tree. Existing at the intersection of abstraction and representation, 'Torso' is an organic form that continues to challenge and intrigue its viewers.
