New York based artist Casolon Bevington is equally curious about the digital world as she is about her physical surroundings. In her artwork, the artist conducts countless Google image searches, which allows her to instantly construct an archive of images that present an alternate reality. Curious about the tension existing between the two realms, the artist reconciles the difference by appropriating found digital images in her paintings, which she presents as crumbled, wrinkled, or, as seen in the current painting, folded. The resulting works become multimedia assemblages that mirror her multi-dimensional resources, existing as complex, multi-layered and otherworldly compositions.
